I make things while people watch
Working in front of guests adds practical considerations that do not exist in studio work, especially around space, materials, timing and guest flow.
A quiet room and a busy one produce very different results from the same pair of hands. Where the station sits changes how the whole evening runs. A queue in the wrong place blocks the catering.
So when you tell me your guest count, I will tell you what is realistic rather than what you want to hear. More than 10 years of doing this has mostly taught me when to say no.

Live Engraving
Hand personalisation on items you supply. The surface is assessed before anything is agreed, because not every finish takes the work.
Live Calligraphy
Hand lettering in Arabic, English or both, on stationery and packaging. A light sketch first where the piece calls for it, then the ink.
Live Illustration
Guests drawn from life, ink first and colour afterwards. The finished piece goes home with the person in it.
What happens before the day
Every booking starts with the same questions. What is the object, who is the audience, how long does the station run and how will guests reach it.
If items are being supplied I want to see one first. Coated, lacquered, plated and delicate finishes may need inspection or a sample test, and it is better to find that out weeks earlier than at nine on the evening.
Venue access, workspace, lighting, seating and product handling are confirmed before the event rather than negotiated on arrival.
And where a service is the wrong fit for the numbers or the room, I will say so. That conversation is cheaper before the booking than after it.
Both, often on the same piece
Some events need Arabic and English on the same piece, and putting them together well is its own layout problem. Arabic connects and flows, Latin letters stand apart, and making the two sit as though they belong on one piece is a layout decision made before the event, not at the table.
